My husband and I had an incredible experience with Embracing Iceland (July, 2024). I booked 2 private tours with them (communication via Email) and everything from the planning to the efficiency was seamless (definitely worth the price!!). They are able to tailor your tour to your needs and interests. Both guides (Vilhjalmur & Einar) are Iceland/Reykjavik locals who are extremely knowledgeable and well educated. I think their English was better than mine. We talked about many aspects of Iceland, including economics, politics, social construct, history, geography/geology, sustainable energy, and more!Tour #1: Pickup from the airport at 7:15am, day tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula with Blue Lagoon, with dropoff at our Reykjavik hotel.Tour #2: Pick up at our Reykjavik cruise terminal, day tour of Golden Circle with Secret Lagoon, dropoff at our airport hotel. We learned so much and valued their enthusiasm and flexibility. I sprained my ankle during the middle of my trip to Iceland and Vilhjalmur was so helpful with finding a medical supply store so I could buy crutches before starting our day tour.I recommend Embracing Iceland to anyone interested in a personalized experience seeing the sites and learning about Iceland from a local. Even if you have been to Iceland before, I'm sure they could create a tour for you of unique locations and destinations beyond the typical sites.

Willy provided us with a great customized tour of the Ring Road and the geothermal power plant. He is very knowledgeable about history, geology, and geothermal power. Highly recommend.

We've visited Iceland four times, mostly basing ourselves in Reykjavík and we've tried availing of the services of many, different tour companies. Embracing Iceland is definitely one of the best and most professional ones.We booked a private, March 2024, half-day Reykjanes peninsula tour directly through them and leading up to the trip, Vilhjálmur has been fantastic at communicating. On time on the day of our tour, we departed from Reykjavík and throughout the trip, Vilhjálmur demonstrated how knowledgeable he is.We got to see a really gorgeous, ortherworldly part of Iceland in a very comfortable vehicle, including the newly formed and still steamy lava fields near the Blue Lagoon from the previous month's volcanic eruption. We really enjoyed the bonus stops too and the scenic detour back to the capital.I only have positive things to say about Embracing Iceland and we'll definitely book tours with them again!

Vilhjalmur was great. His knowledge of Iceland and his personality made our trip such a fun and educational trip. We actually stayed another day and booked him a second day because it was such a fabulous tour and we customized our second day. I highly recommend this company. If you’re going to Iceland, don’t waste your time with larger tours. Once in a lifetime experience…
Excellent guide whose knowledge far surpassed our expectations. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a day trip adventure.

A wonderful tour operator. We used this company for several days and they helped us plan the days in between. We did hiking and tours in museums and have a wonderful time and everything was catered to us.

5 of us went on a week's tour during June/July 2023 around Iceland with Vilhjálmur. A very nice, friendly guide whose stories of Icelandic folklore and a terrific knowledge of geology meant that he could explain his country to us. The inclusion of several 'extra visits' during the journey created a totally unforgettable experience. Thank you for sharing your country with us

We took a day tour with Vilhjalmur in Aug. He was a great guide. He has a background in geology so he was really good at explaining Iceland's natural resources. He was very accommodating and his tour ended up being our Iceland highlight with a hike to see the active volcano. I cannot say enough good things about this day and our guide.

Our private day tour with Vilhjalmur was beyond amazing. We planned to visit the Highlands but at the last minute requested a change of itinerary. After making some phone calls to ensure our request was feasible, Vilhjalmur accommodated our request and created an entire day tour that incorporated his extensive knowledge and insight of Iceland and its geothermal wonders. Vilhjalmur gave a running educational and interesting commentary as we traveled and hiked to our requested destination, and answered all of our questions with patience. He kept us safe as we hiked (note that the hiking was at our request), making sure all 7 of us were on the trail and able to keep up. We absolutely loved our day with Vilhjalmur and highly recommend his service to anyone visiting Iceland. I can’t imagine a better guide.

What is Iceland known for?

The country is mostly famous for being called the Land of Ice and Fire. The reason people choose to travel to Iceland is mainly due to its variety of stunning sceneries, natural wonders, the beautiful untouched nature. Also wonders like the waterfalls, green moss, red and black sand beaches, volcanos, glaciers, and glaciers lagoons. The rich cultural history, Norse Mythology, folklore, Icelandic horses. Another interesting fact is that renewable energy provides 100% electricity production in Iceland, 73% coming from hydropower and 27% from geothermal power.

Despite fearsome Viking ancestors 1100 hundred years ago, then the people have become a peace-loving nation. No army, and the police is not armed with weapons.

Abundance of waters and the fact that the country is situated in the mid-Atlantic ridge, Iceland has high temperature geothermal resources enabling us to heat up all our houses in an environmentally friendly manner. In other words, we do not use fossil fuels for energy production.
