We took a day tour with Vilhjalmur in Aug. He was a great guide. He has a background in geology so he was really good at explaining Iceland's natural resources. He was very accommodating and his tour ended up being our Iceland highlight with a hike to see the active volcano. I cannot say enough good things about this day and our guide.

Our private day tour with Vilhjalmur was beyond amazing. We planned to visit the Highlands but at the last minute requested a change of itinerary. After making some phone calls to ensure our request was feasible, Vilhjalmur accommodated our request and created an entire day tour that incorporated his extensive knowledge and insight of Iceland and its geothermal wonders. Vilhjalmur gave a running educational and interesting commentary as we traveled and hiked to our requested destination, and answered all of our questions with patience. He kept us safe as we hiked (note that the hiking was at our request), making sure all 7 of us were on the trail and able to keep up. We absolutely loved our day with Vilhjalmur and highly recommend his service to anyone visiting Iceland. I can’t imagine a better guide.

What is Iceland known for?

The country is mostly famous for being called the Land of Ice and Fire. The reason people choose to travel to Iceland is mainly due to its variety of stunning sceneries, natural wonders, the beautiful untouched nature. Also wonders like the waterfalls, green moss, red and black sand beaches, volcanos, glaciers, and glaciers lagoons. The rich cultural history, Norse Mythology, folklore, Icelandic horses. Another interesting fact is that renewable energy provides 100% electricity production in Iceland, 73% coming from hydropower and 27% from geothermal power.

Despite fearsome Viking ancestors 1100 hundred years ago, then the people have become a peace-loving nation. No army, and the police is not armed with weapons.

Abundance of waters and the fact that the country is situated in the mid-Atlantic ridge, Iceland has high temperature geothermal resources enabling us to heat up all our houses in an environmentally friendly manner. In other words, we do not use fossil fuels for energy production.
